Turning on your Sonos Soundbar is the gateway to an immersive audio experience that can be easily done with a remote. Use the Power Button to Turn On the Sonos Soundbar
Press the Power button on the Sonos soundbar remote or the Power button on the soundbar to turn the device on. Only some Sonos Soundbars have a power button on them.
The location of the Power button varies for each Sonos model, but it’s typically found on the top or side of the soundbar. Simply press and hold the Power button until the indicator light turns on or a sound is heard. Now, your soundbar will be turned on.

Turn On the Sonos Soundbar using IR Remote Apps
IR remote apps can function similarly to a soundbar remote. To use the IR remote app, you need an Android smartphone that has an IR blaster. If you have it, get a suitable IR remote app for Sonos Soundbar on Android from the Play Store and open the remote interface. Aim the smartphone towards the soundbar’s receiver and press the Power icon. This results in the Soundbar turning on.
Power On the Sonos Soundbar via HDMI-CEC
Sonos soundbars comes with a HDMI-CEC feature. When it is connected to a device (e.g., TV) having the same HDMI feature, the Soundbar and devices will power sync. Now, when you turn on your TV, your soundbar also will turn on.
- Cable Connection: Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the Soundbar port and the other to the TV’s HDMI ARC port.
- HDMI: Enable HDMI-CEC on both Soundbar and TV. Once done, turn on your TV, and your soundbar also will turn on.
Note: This process will not only synchronize the power of both the soundbar and the TV, but it will also allow you to manage the soundbar’s volume functions using your TV remote.
As explained above, when you connect the soundbar and TV via HDMI-CEC, the TV’s remote will automatically sync with the soundbar, and you can use it to control your soundbar. If not, you can manually add the remote using the following steps.
1. Download App: Open the smartphone’s Play Store or App Store and get the Sonos app.
2. Accept Terms: Run the app and accept its terms & policies.
3. Sonos Account: Sign in using our existing account credentials.
4. Access Settings: You will land on the home screen and tap the Settings icon.
5. Select Soundbar: Click System and choose Soundbar name.
6. Remote Setup: Scroll to Home Theater and tap Remote Control Setup.
7. Pairing Instructions: As a result, the pairing instructions will appear.
Pair the remote with your soundbar by following the steps shown. Once done, press the Power button on the TV remote, and your soundbar will power On.
Power On the Sonos Soundbar via Voice Commands
Sonos soundbars are compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Hence, connect the soundbar to your home Wi-Fi network and link it to your chosen voice assistant through the corresponding app.
Once set up, say, “Alexa, turn on the soundbar” or “Hey, Google, power on the soundbar“. If your soundbar is in standby mode, it will wake up and begin playing audio.
